The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is pursuing funding to complete the Raising the I-94 Rock River and Crawfish River Bridges Project. The Project will replace and elevate approximately 4 miles of roadway around the I-94 bridges crossing the Rock River and Crawfish River, significantly reducing the risk of I-94 being closed during flooding events.
Project Information
The Project will address safety, damage and closure concerns of the Rock River and Crawfish River bridges. Replacement of the bridges and roadways will reduce the risk of future closings, a safety
measure that will reduce traffic diversions onto less safe local roads and highways and cause fewer
driver delays. Higher bridge and roadway elevations will allow I-94 to continue providing a lifeline for Southern Wisconsin and ensure people and goods can flow safely through the region. More information about the project.
Request for Support
WisDOT requests your support for its application under the PROTECT Grant Program. Grant funding is being pursued to replace the bridges to allow for higher flood conveyance. Reviewers at the U.S. Department of Transportation consider letters of support when determining which projects receive grant funding. Please consider providing a letter of support and highlighting why this project is essential to your organization. A template is provided below. Letters will be included with the application. Please return letters to julieo@thriveED.org by February 14, 2025.
